Sound generation

 

Diversion offers 4 oscillators with a wide range of different waveforms with a near to zero level of aliasing. The oscillators generate sounds in real-time by using our algorithms, which don't degrade the sound quality at high frequencies. All waveforms have two independent parameters X and Y allowing you to adjust the timbre of the produced sound. The oscillators also feature such synthesis techniques as FM, RM, wave shaping and filtering.

Since version 1.2 Diversion offers comprehensive Wavetable Editor, which allows to load arbitrary single cycle WAV files. With new Wavetable Editor it is possible to edit waveforms both in time and frequency space as well as apply different effects. Since version 1.3, Diversion provides sample playback with granular synthesis and output audio recording.

Bus processors

 

Two bus processors in Diversion allow you to transform the oscillators' output into a wide variety of possible sounds. Each bus processor consists of a stereo filter with lots of different modes, distortion and LO-FI section. We have implemented many filter modes and types of saturation stages to bring you a great armoury for creating arbitrary patches, including popular Trance, Psy, Dub Step and Ambient sounds.

Effects

 

Diversion uses two flexible FX lines for a separated processing of each bus processor?s output. With the separated FX processing you can make lots of layered sounds, even which has two parts located in two fully independent sound spaces. Up to 8 effect instances can be stacked in one FX line, which is enough to create any desired processing chain.

Oversampling

Typically, after a non-linear processing of the waveform inside the oscillators and bus processors, digital aliasing can occur. Diversion takes care of this by using oversampling up to 8X within a whole processing path, excluding FX section. Models of all processing modules in Diversion are designed using at least 2X oversampling. This allows Diversion to achieve a perfect sound quality with an insignificant level of aliasing.

Modulation

 

Many parameters in Diversion can be modulated by 4 LFOs, 4 ADSR Envelopes, 4 MSEGs and one XY-controller, called Master Morph. These options, along with use of the Modulation Matrix, can really breathe life into a sound. Of course, automation and midi controllers are supported.

True Keys – Italian
This is the largest piano of this collection and has the brightest sound. Often crowned the World’s best piano, the Fazioli F308© provides the sound for our Italian grand.
At a staggering 10 feet 2 inches in length, the instrument has immense power with long sustains and rich harmonics. The Una Corda pedal is particularly expressive letting you go from whisper soft to a thunderous fortissimo instantly, with even voicing across the entire register.
True Keys – German
This instrument puts you at the keys of the superb Bechstein© semi-concert grand and has the shortest length of the True Keys pianos at about 7 feet 5 inches. These pianos are known for their precision voicing, clear bell-like tones and deep bass.
Smaller in scale than a 9 foot concert grand, it can be less obtrusive in a mix but still cut through when aggressively played. It’s also most suitable of the True keys pianos for soft lyrical playing.

A specific microphone in one area of the piano might work great in a jazz mix but not fit for a Romantic classical solo. True Keys offers three fully mixable mic setups as well as a ‘best of’ mix of all mics as separate samples. Each mic setup was chosen for its versatility and character to suit any style of playing. The Close mics have a punchy modern sound with a wide stereo image and deep bass. Player delivers the pianist’s perspective with more distance and plenty of hammer attack. Side is a stereo ribbon offering a warmer tone and full even response. The Mix position is a combination of all mics for a quick and less processor intensive option.
COMPLETE SOUND CONTROL – Sampled key and pedal noise plus MIDI response and IR reverbs.
Everything is sample-based down to the adjustable key noise and damper pedal samples. The Repetition strike feature varies the tone when repeating the same key with the pedal down. Go brighter or darker with the Tone control, and select from 22 superb IR convolution reverbs representing all sizes of rooms. MIDI and volume response are fully adjustable to fit your playing style and controller.

All three grand piano pedals are available in True Keys and can be mapped to any MIDI controller of your choice. The pedal-down resonance is tied to the sustain pedal and responds physically like the real grand.
Repedal allows more blending control as notes continue to sustain during quick pedal actions. Half-pedal works with your continuous sustain pedal using real samples and is customizable to your pedal. Sostenuto is supported and works with sympathetic resonance.
RELEASE TRAILS – Thousands of detailed release samples including true staccato trails.
The strings of a piano don’t immediately stop singing when a played key is released as the damper has to absorb the energy. This characteristic ‘ring’ left over gives the piano extra resonance and body.
Release trail samples are carefully voiced for each key and respond based on both velocity and time. Just as playing a key, what happens when a key is released is also an important component of a real piano.
UNA CORDA SAMPLES – Discreet soft pedal sustain and release samples add to the tonal palette.
The una corda or soft pedal on a grand piano changes the tone in two ways. Hammers hitting three strings shift slightly so they only hit two strings which results in less volume. Plus a softer part of the hammer hits the strings creating a warmer tone.
This unique tone is captured fully with discreet samples and provide another way to alter the volume and voicing. This completes the full pedal setup of the real grand.
MIDI RESPONSE AND TUNING – Intuitive controls for MIDI and volume response deliver a great feel with any controller. Choose and create custom tunings from the Tuning Panel.
The Tuning panel offers the ability to set Base tune for the entire piano as well as creating your own tunings key by key, in Cents or Ratio. Micro-tunings are supported and several tuning presets are included.

Ambience & Field Recordings:  Were recorded in different locations using a wide range of materials and loaded with a variety of sounds ranging from amazing rain including drain pipes and storm drains, patters, puddles, showers and downpours, forest ambiences, birds, winds, heavy thunderstorm, lightning strikes all around, disturbing machinery sounds, inspiring rumbles and many types of water sounds ranging from waterfalls and streaming sounds, cave creeks, lakes, seashores contains everything from angry waves dashing against the rock to quiet calmly flowing bubbles, water pumps and many other experimental nature sounds.

Drone & Tonal Layers:  Many of the sounds are recorded in forsaken places, abandoned factories, undergrounds, deserted warehouses, halls and corridors of old-buildings then layered and manipulated with analogue and digital synthesis.

Stingers:  Here you will find a massive amount of aquaphone sounds, bowed cymbals and various metal scrapes from eerie phrases to dreamy sounds waiting to be discovered!
Texture & Subs:  These Were designed using all kinds of field recordings plus some metal, plastic, glass, ice and much more. Using multiple granular synthesis techniques to manipulate the sounds microscopically - the result is the most detailed and fully organic textures ever.

Also a diverse selection of boutique hardware devices, synthesizer modules and hybrid soft synths were utilized. Every sound was originally recorded at 24bit / 192kHz, designed and delivered in 24bit / 96kHz to ensure the highest quality for today's cinematic production needs and were edited for instant use in your projects or creative processing. A Brief History of a Classic late 70’s Synth  –  The ARP Quadra!

The ARP Quadra was a 61 key analog musical synthesizer produced by ARP Instruments, Inc. from 1978 to 1981.
The machine was a four section synthesiser that combined pre-existing products, including the  Omni, Odyssey and Solina and consisted of a bass-synth (monophonic), poly-synth (full polyphonic), lead-synth (duophonic), and Solina like analog strings (full polyphonic).
The top three octaves of the keyboard have a mechanical touch sensor that can either pitch bend or impact brilliance and filter. Unique is the flat pedal feature which allows pedaling to dip individual notes and chords a semitone below so they rise to pitch with the envelope’s attack.
The Quadra used the typical ARP orange and black color scheme of the company’s later years including the orange leather end pieces and the clean XLR out for DI console recording.
This is a classic late 70’s synth that was used by: Genesis, Pink Floyd, New Order, Joe Zawinul and John Carpenter… and many more.
