Simple Interface Offering Complete Control
Legendary features a simple but effective interface
giving you access to all of your sounds in one place. Simply click the
category name in the centre for access to a dropdown menu providing you
with access to all sound categories. Each sample is mapped to a specific
key on your keyboard and you can change the pitch easily to match your
track.
The center of the interface shows you the waveform of the sample
you’re triggering along with the sample name, so you can easily locate
the .WAV file and drag and drop that into your project for further
mangling if you’d rather. Also included are a number of standard
controls such as Attack, Release, Filters, Delay and “Morph” which is
essentially a gate that when enabled, will turn any sound into a stutter
effect.
The library also has 80 custom created, unique convolution reverbs to
choose from including Arena, Cathedral, Chainsaw, Granular etc.
allowing you to design some truly unique sounds.

The
Aurora Choir is an elegant and powerful choir sample library for
Kontakt, and represents somewhat of a milestone for Aria Sounds, being
the culmination of many hours of work, study and tweaking.
The
library contains both Sopranos and Altos (separate instruments for
maximum control), and has an absolutely stunning legato tone. On top of
this, it has short syllables, arranged into a very conveniently playable
sequencer. Simple arrange your phrase in the sequence, and play away -
the choir will automatically sing the syllables you enter.
Multiple Legato Modes at Multiple Dynamics
The choir contains four true legato
modes (ah, eh, ih and oh) sampled at multiple dynamic layers, giving a
total of EIGHT true sampled legato sets, for absolute realism and
variation. On top of this, there are a total of twenty four different
syllable shorts, sequence-able in the GUI, each sampled at three dynamic
layers, giving a total of 72 variations per short note!
Four Mic Positions (48kHz / 24 Bit)
The choir was recorded in a mid
sized hall, for a pristine and clear sound, with four mic positions used
to ensure that no part of the vocalists' glorious sound was wasted.
Choose from, or create your own personal blend from the four available
positions. The positions are ordered from closest to furthest, and you
even have the option between close condenser mics, and close ribbon mics
(for a darker and warmer sound). If an even more reverberant sound is
what you are after, there is a reverb slider on the interface, and
you'll also be pleased to know that this library takes external reverb
very well.
All audio is in 24 bit 48KHz .wav format files.
The sequencer (lower) part of the interface allows for the creation of
extremely realistic and powerful spoken lines, with the 24 included
syllables.
The default sequence spells out the "Dies Irae" text,
but you can easily customise or completely change this. Simply click on
any syllable, and select a different one from the 24 options on the drop
down menu that opens... Each syllable was recorded at three dynamics,
which respond to velocity.
The low G# (in yellow) can be used to
reset the sequence to the beginning, in case you don't want to use all
twenty four steps every time, allowing for even greater variation.

Since owning the original
Xosphere, I found it to be an indispensable tool in atmosphere creation. How
can Xosphere 2compare with the most powerful atmosphere creation tool ever?
A collaboration of incredible talents brings together the vastest atmospheric
sound design tool to date. Over 2,000 instruments from 1,020 sound sources
from Sample Logic and other
top sound design companies like Soundiron, Loopmasters, Audiomodern,Sampletraxx
& Black Octopus.
With so much talent behind the creation of Xosphere 2 it
must be good, right?
Let's dig in!
One thing I noticed in Xosphere
2 is that there is the same great meta tagging system found in
Arpology 2 'Cinematic Dimensions'. The tagging system simplifies the preset
sound search by letting you select from these categories:

After finding a preset you like, select the heart icon next it to allow it to be stored in your favorites. This makes it an extreme time saver to be able to recall your favorites in the browser quickly.
You can get infinite sound combinations by using the
randomization engine. You can
randomize virtually every parameter of all 4 cores including the multi-instruments and sound sources. The manipulation of the
samples is truly endless, and I received fantastic results continuously using this
feature. I highly recommend using the Randomization feature because it will give you a unique sound of your own with just a few selections and a click of a button.
Each sound core contains a handful of useful “Dynamic” FX, which are hot-swappable for total customization

comes equipped with a wide selection of studio-quality mastering effects that work
across all sound cores located in the Master FX section.
A
– Master FX Chain Presets – Select
from fully configurable combinations of studio insert effects to master your
sound.

Each core can also be modulated by an LFO for its volume, LO
cut and HI cut parameters.
One
thing I need to note isthat if you are an owner of the original Xosphere and
you plan on getting Xosphere 2, just make sure you own the full version of
Kontakt because it will not work in the Kontakt free player like the original
Xosphere.
I can also tell you that owning Xosphere 2 is not a
replacement of the original Xosphere. So, if you don't yet own the original Xosphere, I would spend the extra money to grab the discounted bundle. Both libraries are independent of each
other and the content you'll have is colossal.
After
reading this review, I encourage you to watch the videos below to hear
and watch the details of this instrument in action.
The
presets are vivid in Xosphere 2. Every imaginable atmospheric mood is
available in this library. The soundscapes are dark, brooding, evolving,
ethereal, and outright euphoric. The production of these instruments is of the
highest caliber and the complexity of the atmospheres is staggering.
As I
auditioned the presets, I found myself losing minutes before moving on to the
next one because I was so absorbed within the ambiences. Sample Logic released a victorious second chapter in the Xosphere universe and what I experienced was transcendence.
Xosphere 2 undoubtedly andcompellingly earns a 5 out of 5 stars!!
