REVIEW

When I heard Triple Spiral Audio was releasing a new Omnisphere 2 series called Discovery, I couldn't wait to read the details. After the successful Empty Fields F.2 series, I knew Triple Spiral Audio had something special in mind. There is a regular edition of Discovery for Omnisphere 2 owners and a Deluxe edition for Omnisphere 2 + Keyscape owners. In the regular edition, there will be a total of 600 presets plus 150 multis at one very affordable price. However, if you don't want to pay the one subscription price you can now actually buy each release separately upon its release. I thought this was a great option to add for customers. The Deluxe Edition will have a grand total of 750 presets and 210 multis. However, since I'm not an owner of Keyscape I'll be delving into the regular edition.

Each release has a specific theme to it which really intrigued me. The titles of the themed soundsets are Crime, Horror, Trailer, Documentary, Reality, and Blockbuster. These niche categories are right of my alley.

According to Triple Spiral Audio, the Crime soundset is influenced by television shows like The Bridge, Person of Interest, The Killing, The Americans, Bodyguard, Blacklist and many more. As I played though each category in 'Crime' I could definitely hear how these sounds could be used to score any of these shows. Discovery: Crime is designed with a lot of movement. I found that there are many presets with so much complexity that I could actually underscore a whole scene with just one preset. I noticed Triple Spiral Audio took full advantage of the Omnisphere 2.5 update by creating sounds I had yet to hear in Omnisphere. The comprehensive use of effects assigned to the modwheel is impressive. I love the way many of the presets add a slow building rhythmic pulse when moving the modwheel, thus creating that tension and suspense buildup. What makes this library even more unique is the added 115 new soundsources in the regular edition and 124 soundsources in the deluxe version. If you would like to hear an extensive demo of all the patches in Discovery: Crime, check out the video at the bottom of this review. Place a pair of headphones on or watch the video through some good speakers and you'll hear how great this library is.

In my opinion, this library is an indispensable scoring tool that you should add to your Omnisphere soundbank collection. It's criminal I can't give Discovery: Crime more than 5 Stars but rest assured the Discovery series by Triple Spiral Audio will certainly make Omnisphere library history in 2019.

5 Out of 5 Stars
