Heavyocity releases its first library of 2023, Damage Uncharted 88. It's no surprise that I'm once again blown away!

Uncharted 88 is an unconventional, sophisticated, and adventurous percussion instrument using a dismantled piano. They multi-sampled every piece of the piano, including the wooden frame, strings, iron plate, and more. It delivers a much more organic experience and offers the modern tools for driving a unique rhythmic underscore.

Heavyocity used a variety of elements to create this impressive percussion library. They used everything from rocket rods, picks, coins, mallets, and hammers, to get these awe-inspiring sounds from this disassembled piano.

Damage Uncharted 88 is separated into three NKI instrument categories, an Ensemble Designer, Kit Designer, and Loop Designer. The Ensemble Designer contains five sections of performance snapshots, All-Stars, Wood Strikes, Iron Strikes, Strings Strikes, and Rips Glisses Transitions.

On the source page of the Ensemble Designer, Kit Designer, and Loop Designer, you can drag any drum source from any category to the keyslots on the Ensemble Designer and Loop Designer page or the 16 pads found on the Kit Designer. They are both located below where it says Drop Sample Here. I love this feature and recommend exploring it to create a custom kit.

There is a total of four pages that include Stage, Source, Settings, and Master FX. In the Stage section, you will have total control of the location of the drums by dragging them anywhere on the virtual stage. Then define in the mix with the included five mic positions.

The Settings page is where you can choose performances including, Crescendo, Swell, Flam, Roll, Repeat and assign them to a variety of sources and keys. The MASTER-FX is the last page where the global effects are found, including Heavyocity’s proprietary Punish Knob. There are three feature settings (Nightmare, Hurt Me Plenty, and Gently Now on the Punish knob you can dialed in. On the bottom, there's a delay effect with a Modern and Vintage option.

The Kit Designer is where you can dive deeper into the kit construction and midi map it to any Pad Controller like Maschine, Akai MPC One, Ableton Live Push 2, Arturia Beatstep Pro, and more. The Kit Designer is where you can adjust the mix and assign any drum source beginning on C1 to D2#. The Kit Designer includes ten presets of kits. These include Dirt and Scrap, Overdriven and Prepared, String Groove Generator, Stringscapes, The Iron Piano, The Survivalist, The Uncharted Piano Set, The Wood Piano, Urban Brushes, and Woodknock 88.

The Loop Designer has two category sections Menus and Breakouts and Uncharted. Both categories include Straight and Triplet varieties. Two hundred eighty-eight tempo-synced loops cover Hybrid, Experimental, and Organic styles.

In all, Damage Uncharted 88 contains 18,645 Samples, 238 different Percussion Sources, 36 Damage Piano Hits, 288 Creative Loops, and 91 Custom-Designed Presets. It is Free Kontakt player compatible and downloads around 11GB.

Uncharted 88 is exceptional for scoring crime, drama, horror, adventure, documentaries, and more. It has all the percussive elements to help compose a dark, twisted, unnerving piece of music perfect for modern productions.
