REVIEW
Neutronic by Genera Studios is an analog synth for Kontakt that is not only affordable, but it sounds really great. It has 290 samples, 90 snapshot presets, and is a conservative 788mb in size. As I played the synth, I couldn't help but hear some John Carpenter and Vangelis inspired synth sounds. Genera Studios even collaborated with musicians/sound designers Franklin Vanderhyde and Jetfire Prime to create something truly special. They created this library using 100% Analog synthesizers. Neutronic also includes an extra NKI mono file. The GUI is straightforward with a smart design. I liked the dual sequencers on the main page for quick accessibility to control the LPF cutoff and resonance. Neutronic works with the full version of Kontakt and retails for only $30.
The synth samples sound clean, thick, and powerful. I heard no noise artifacts at all. The percussion samples were the only presets I felt were slightly lacking in quality compared to the other presets. However, this is a classic synth library, and this is where it excels. The only other thing I would have liked to have seen was some effects assigned to the mod-wheel. Whenever I play a Kontakt instrument I like to periodically move the mod-wheel to change the modulation or expression of the sample. However, these are minor nitpicks and should not take away from the overall selling point of this instrument. You also should watch the awesome walk-through video created by Genera Studios below to hear the presets and get all the intimate details of the library.
If you’re looking to expand your analog sound with a bargain priced synth for Kontakt, look no further than Neutronic. Not only does it sound impressive but it’s easy to customize and it includes a wide array of categories. There was a lot of work put into this library and it shows. This was an exceptional effort and another great release from Genera Studios.
Neutronic is an analog sensation!
