A brand new, cutting-edge Kontakt instrument that seamlessly merges sample and wavetable subtractive synthesis. Featuring over 500 sampled sounds and 200 wavetables, state-of-the-art Kontakt 8 features and deep NKS2 integration.

Porphyra Hybrid comprises a unique dual-layer engine that combines the power of a wavetable synthesizer on one layer and a sampler on the other. There’s also an abundance of modulation options, a vast array of sampled sounds and wavetables, plus the ability to import your own samples offering extensive sound exploration and manipulation capabilities that take advantage of Kontakt 8’s new state of the art synthesis features and high-quality effects.

The Sampler

Porphyra Hybrid offers over 500 sampled sounds, from analog and digital synths, to noise, to actual acoustic instruments, voices and more – all for use in the instrument’s second layer – the sampler.

Audition the sounds and use the modwheel to crossfade between layers. The Sampler also allows you to randomize the sample start for each note, adding organic variability to patches. Similar randomization can be applied in the wavetable layer.

Import Your Own Samples

For truly unlimited experimentation, Porphyra Hybrid allows you to import your own samples on both the sampler layer and on the wavetable layer. Porphyra automatically analyses the pitch of your sample and maps it accordingly. Of course, your samples need to make sense used as wavetables, we suggest checking out Wave Edit which also includes a library of wavetables that can be downloaded and used with Porphyra.


The Mod Oscillator

This is a new feature of Kontakt 8 that we used to the max when developing Porphyra Hybrid which allows you to add frequency and phase modulation to your sound design using an additional built-in oscillator.

Choose how the internal oscillator interacts with the wavetable layer with options such as FM, phase modulation in both directions, feedbacks, and ring modulation. Additionally, the "Mod Mix" option lets you blend the oscillator's signal directly.

Modulation

Porphyra Hybrid features a vast array of modulation sources which makes it perfect for creating ever-evolving cinematic sounds. In addition to three envelopes, you’ll find five LFOs including the rather special and quirky LFO X. With each click on the control, the instrument will generate a new random waveform by internally mixing different shapes. In addition, the LFO X can be faded in for up to 10 seconds – ideal for creating evolving pads.


Effects

Porphyra Hybrid features four different effects slots – most of which are new for Kontakt 8. They are:

Creative - overdrives and distortions, ring modulator, programmable gater and more.

Mod - chorus, flanger, vibrato and other modulation-type sounds.
